Prenatal & Labor Doula Support

Doula support for birthing parents includes prenatal visits, support at a hospital or home birth, and postpartum visits.

The role of a doula is to:

  • Provide emotional and physical support to clients and their partners

  • Provide evidence-based information on birth options and resources, and help the client understand this information

  • Encourage informed consent and decision-making

  • Assist the preparation of birth preferences to facilitate communication with the birth team

  • Provide clients with non-medical comfort techniques for labor, such as positions and movement, touch, visualization, breathing techniques and affirmations

  • Encourage self-advocacy, confidence and empowerment

Katie Doyle, founder of Root & Blossom Birth Services, is a CAPPA-trained doula and childbirth educator with Birthing from Within. In addition, Katie is certifying with Body Ready Methodto support parents in movement practices that encourage optimal maternal and fetal positioning and pelvic space during both pregnancy and labor.
